Aulnay-sous-Bois – Abandoned Tabac

My great- aunt lives just in Aulnay (about 30-45 minutes outside of Paris). She’s a great lady with a very dry sense of humor, passion for gardening, and the best recipe for potatoes EVER (this is saying a lot considering how much I love potatoes). My mother, little sister, brother, and I made the trip out to visit her during our stay in Paris. On our way there, my mother got lost (this happens every time we visit my aunt) and we happened across an old abandoned “Tabac.”

According to my mother, it has been abandoned for years, but I was not able to find any additional information about it. It looks like an older house (like many in this area), but due to lack of upkeep, has some great rusting colors.

Since getting my new 7D, I’ve been playing a lot more with HDR. The two photos above are HDR shot without a tripod and using Photomatix to process (if you haven’t yet, give it a whirl with their free trial). I still haven’t quite mastered this technique but hope my continued “experimentation” will make for some great photos in the future.
